Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a South Indian actress and model who has appeared in films in both Tamil and Telugu.
Samantha’s first film was the Gautham Menon-directed Ye Maaya Chesave from Indira Productions. The film, a simultaneous remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, generated a lot of buzz before its release, owing to A. R. Rahman’s successful soundtrack. For this film, she received the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress in both languages (Tamil & Telugu). She’s been in over 45 films.
On October 6, 2017, she married Naga Chaitanya according to Hindu traditions in Goa. They had a Christian wedding celebration the next day. Samantha and Naga Chaitanya filed for divorce in October 2021.
