Akkineni Nagarjuna was born on August 29, 1959 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He is an Indian film actor, film producer, television presenter, television producer, philanthropist, businessperson, and playback singer best known for his work in Telugu films. He is also well-known for his work in Bollywood and Tamil cinema.
Akkineni Nagarjuna moved to Hyderabad with his family when he was very young and completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School. He then attended Little Flower Junior College. Following that, he went abroad and earned his graduate degree from Eastern Michigan.
Nagarjuna’s career as an actor began at a young age, when he appeared as a child artist in the Telugu film Sudigundalu alongside his father in 1967. In 1986, he made his full-fledged acting debut as a lead actor in the film Vikram. In 1989, he rose to fame after appearing in Mani Ratnam’s romantic film Geetanjali. This film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film in 1990. He rose to prominence in Bollywood with the film Shiva, a remake of Ram Gopal Verma’s Telugu blockbuster Siva. His film Ninne Pelladata was named the Best Telugu Film of the Year at the 1996 National Film Awards.

He co-founded Annapurna Studios with his brother Akkineni Venkata Rathnam in 1995 and is the co-owner of Annapurna Studios. Rajanna, Damarukam, and Saibaba are his upcoming films.
