Synopsis

Raja, a carefree college youth, is deeply in love with Meenakshi, a sweet and simple girl who reciprocates his love wholeheartedly. Their bond grows strong, and they even plant a mango tree — a Maamaram — together, promising it will grow with their love.

But life takes a turn when Meenakshi discontinues her studies to take up a job as the personal secretary to a wealthy company MD. Slowly, her style, priorities, and lifestyle begin to change. She becomes distant, skipping dates with Raja, citing work pressure.

At the same time, Raja's best friend Suhumar is betrayed by his lover Sudha, leading him to grow bitter about love. Suhumar begins poisoning Raja’s mind, insisting that girls are disloyal and Meenakshi could be no different.

One night, Raja sees Meenakshi and her boss entering a hotel together, just after she claimed to be working overtime. Shattered, he confronts her. Meenakshi coldly confesses she likes her boss and hates Raja — leaving him heartbroken.

Devastated, Raja attempts suicide, but survives. In that moment of pain, he remembers his late mother's wish — to see him become an engineer. He pulls himself together, gives up drinking and smoking, and returns to college, this time as a serious student.

But love becomes a sore point for him. If he sees anyone flirting or dating, he lashes out violently. In a desperate attempt to help a poor friend, Raja secretly participates in an illegal underground kickboxing match for money. The intense fight causes Raja to collapse — his heart, already weakened from past substance abuse, begins to fail.

The hospital declares he needs an urgent heart transplant.

When Meenakshi hears this on the news, the truth is revealed — she never stopped loving Raja. She had pushed him away to protect him from her dark past involving harassment from her boss. Consumed by guilt and love, Meenakshi stabs herself and donates her heart to save Raja’s life.

Raja wakes up, alive with her heart inside him. A letter left by Meenakshi reveals her sacrifice and her final wish — to take care of the Maamaram, the mango tree that held their love.

Raja dedicates his life to fulfilling her wish. He guards the tree with all his heart. Anyone who dares harm it — or even touches his chest — awakens a fury in Raja that cannot be contained.

*Maamaram* is a poignant tale of love, betrayal, sacrifice, and redemption — where a tree becomes the eternal heartbeat of a love story that death could not destroy.
