Lakshmi Gopalaswamy began her film career in 2000 with Arayannangalude Veedu, where her performance as Seetha earned her the Kerala State Film Award. She quickly became a prominent supporting actress in Malayalam cinema with films like Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Achaneyanenikkishtam, and Punyam.

In 2004, she expanded into Kannada and Tamil cinema with Poorvapara and Kanavu Meippada Vendum. Over the years, she appeared in several commercially successful and critically acclaimed Malayalam films including Keerthi Chakra, Bhramaram, Shikkar, Christian Brothers, Oru Indian Pranayakadha, and Ividam Swargamanu.
