Gautham Karthik is an Indian actor who appears in Tamil-language films. He made his acting debut with Mani Ratnam’s Kadal.
Mani Ratnam announced Gautham’s debut in Kadal in February 2012. Gautham claimed that he initially believed Ratnam had sought him to be a part of the technical crew and was startled when he was given the starring role.
His second film, Yennamo Yedho, received mixed reviews and a lacklustre box office, although critics applauded Gautham’s performance. On May 1, 2015, his next film, Vai Raja Vai, directed by Aishwarya Dhanush, debuted to excellent reviews and became a commercial success. In 2017, he worked on five films at once, including Muthuramalingam, Rangoon, Ivan Thanthiran, Hara Hara Mahadevaki, and Indrajith. Following that, he signed on for Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren (2018), helmed by Arumuga Kumar, in which he will appear with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time.
